Kasey Summers was in the middle of the crowded bar, sitting on the edge of the bar, surrounded by fans as she loudly told the story over and over again about her decisive victory over Bri Davenport. She didn't mention the lengths she'd gone to. No. The more she told it, the weaker the former champion became until she was Godzilla and the most dominant Great Lakes Champion in the history of the company had become as weak as a tiny model of Tokyo, easily crushed. The drunken patrons hung on her every word though, and if the empty shot glasses surrounding the petite redhead were any indication, the celebration had been going on for quite some time before Nessa Wall and Matt Stone arrived.
She immediately waved her arms enthusiastically at seeing them walk through the door, shaking off the Toronto cold and damp. "MATTY! NESSIE! OVER HERE!" She met the eyes of the male half of the duo and saw him lead the latter over towards her, murmuring something inaudible as he approached.
"Kasey! There you are, sorry we're late, we had some post match cleaning up to do, glad to see you didn't wait to celebrate." He finished speaking as he got right up to her, taking notice of some of the empty glasses already forming a pile on the adjacent counter.
"Do you like Tequila? I wasn't sure so I waited before ordering shots. I took off right after you guys won, came down here to make sure to save seats and... I was streaming the rest of the show on my phone and these guys were pretty thrilled to see it! I kinda... I shut it off before that ending because it was like Who Cares versus Nope part ten. Gross." Kasey made a face, completely ignoring Nessa as she leaned forward and tapped one of the guys sitting there on the forehead. "Uhm... rude? Can you move so my friend can sit down?"
Nessa opened her mouth to interject and ended up shaking her head instead, biting her tongue rather than cause a scene. Moving a few paces down the bar, she signalled the tender and asked for a Sprite with a shot of grenadine syrup just to make it look like she was taking part in the festivities.
Matt seemed pretty amused by all the goings on, noticing that the crowd around Kasey was entirely male and almost feeling like a protective older brother, getting closer and sitting down beside her, having to nudge the guy off the barstool in the process. "Yeah, we didn't have it on, either. Hopefully they both took the other's head off and we can all live a little happier from here on out, but the story tonight is the new champion!" The bartender brought a couple of Tequila shots over and Matt grabbed one. "Cheers, champ!" He offered before downing the shot rather quickly. "I knew you could do it!"
Kasey grimaced after tossing back hers, swiping her hand across her mouth. "You had more faith in me than I did." She confessed, the glaze in her eyes and the flush to her cheeks making it clear she was well on her way to inebriation. "But... you know... you're so smart, Matty. You really are. I should have just listened to you all along."
Behind his back, Nessa rolled her eyes, elbowing her way in between one of Kasey's admirers and her tag partner. "Where's your..." she struggled with the term, "other half?"
Kasey barely acknowledged the question, flipping her hair over her shoulder. "He took the belt and my stuff back to the hotel for safekeeping. He'll be here in a little while. Probably."
Matt took the time to order another two shots for the pair, knowing that downing shots was well beneath his partner before glancing around. "Was he okay with your current gaggle of gentlemen fans...wait, it is a he, right?" He asked, not actually sure what Kasey's other half was, likely because he cared so little about it that whenever the topic arose he was thinking about something else.
"Akragth is definitely a guy," she replied with a giggle, shaking her head, "not that there's anything wrong with being into girls. I'm just so..." she glanced past him at Nessa before leaning in to whisper loudly, "girls are too bitchy. Too catty, you know?"
Matt didn't even have to look back to know who she was talking about and laughed about it, grabbing the glass that was brought over for them. "To bitchiness!" He said with a laugh before downing the second drink, possibly quicker than the first. "He sounds like he would be into some occult shit though, not my cup of tea."
"Occult?" Kasey dragged out the word on her exhale after slamming back her shot, clearly confused, "I always thought it sounded more like a WoW handle but... y'know, that's what he prefers to go by so..." she shrugged, "you know how it is. Sometimes a name sticks even though you don't want it to. And I honestly don't care. It's not all about names, you know. It's about what's inside. It's about the whole package." She rested her hand on his arm, glancing back at the bartender, giving him a nod for another round.
"Well I've heard just about enough of his package, though for the record I prefer it from now on if you call me Master. So yeah, let's make that a thing, shall we?" He asked with a grin, looking back over at Nessa who was staring into her drink. "You too."
"I'm sorry... what?" Nessa's head snapped up, the words registering a second later before she socked him in the shoulder. "No. And I'm not wearing the outfit either."
"Master?" Kasey frowned, "you mean like from that show? What was it called... the one with the genie and the astronaut?"
Matt rolled his eyes at Nessa, figuring she wouldn't bite on it. "Oh you're no fun...besides, you'd probably make a better Samantha anyway." He looked back at Kasey. "Yeah, that's the one...I Dream of Jeannie."
"I used to watch that one. It was on in the afternoons in the summer. Reruns along with Seinfeld and Friends." Kasey nodded, reaching for her next drink. She held it out towards Matt, waiting to clink it against his. "Cheers to new friends and bright futures and all the possibilities in the world... OH! And to being champions!"
"Especially to being champions!" He added, grabbing what was already his third shot and clinking glasses with her before downing the beverage. The people around were starting to get antsy for more attention from Kasey, tapping her on the shoulder.
She ignored them, grinning at Matt. "This is seriously the best night ever. I'm so glad you guys are here. I'm so... like so seriously happy I've got friends... like we've got each other's backs and you know..."
"Thank you, Kasey." Nessa cut in, rolling her eyes as though the redhead was fishing for the response, the sarcasm thick in her voice, "we couldn't have done it without you."
Matt ordered another drink to come over before he nodded with what Nessa said. "I don't know if I'd say couldn't, but it was certainly poetic justice for what that dumb insect did in our last title defense. Got right what was coming to her, she did!" He looked at one of the men who was hanging around. "Hey you...fuck off." Matt aggressively swatted his hand away from Kasey.
Kasey barely noticed the guy as he slunk away, rejoining his friends over by the pool table. She was more focused on Stone, the very portrait of that heart eyes emoji. "Well... I mean... you guys deserve to stay on top and... um... you... we're like the Musketeers, right? All for one and one for all?"
Nessa made a face, barely resisting the urge to gag. "I'm not going to hold your hair while you puke tonight, honey. Slow down... you're embarrassing yourself."
Matt looked back at Nessa again, eyebrow raised. "Why would I need you to hold back my hair? It's short and perfect and won't mess up at all, trust me, I worked on it for twenty minutes!"
"Not you." She fired back, her narrowed eyes fixed on Kasey's flushed face. "I'm talking about your biggest fan."
"I'm fine." Kasey said when she looked anything but, "and it's none of your business. God. I'm an adult and Ak is coming any minute so..."
Matt almost spit out the water he was sipping so he wouldn't completely get drunk in the first ten minutes hearing the nickname for the nickname of her ‘other half'. "Ak? I may have said your boyfriend's name last time I stubbed my toe," he managed to get out between laughing and coughing.
Nessa couldn't help the chuckle at the joke, gesturing for a refill on her ‘Shirley Temple'. "That's priceless, really."
"Better than being engaged to an Artois," Kasey fired back, shrugging. "At least he's not human garbage like that family. Speaking of garbage... any idea who you guys're gonna be facing next? I mean... are there even any tag teams? What are they gonna do? Outsource another Izzy and Dizzy Duck for your next challengers?"
Matt just shrugged, choosing not to pounce on that Artois comment on their celebration night though any other night he would have been all over that. "Yeah, probably. More people who don't deserve what they get, but I mean, in their defense, Nessa and I already chased off all the real teams, we drove a wedge between Ella and Cameron, I called out the previous champions and they ran off with their tails tucked between their legs, so they gotta make up for it somehow. Can't just leave us off the show, we're the best part." He takes another sip of water. "All three of us, we."
"They ran ‘cause they're scared." Kasey nodded sagely, "and I mean, who can blame them? Look at you! You're intense and smart and a really great wrestler... and..." she smiled slowly, "your eyes are so beautiful. Wow. A girl could drown in there." She blushed, shaking her head, "and uhm... I mean... you know... you're awesome."
Matt took another drink from his water, looking at her for a moment like it was the first time he'd ever heard someone say that about him. Of course, it wasn't, as the blonde on the other side of him, his beloved tag team partner, used to say those sort of things about him all the time. "I am all of those things, aren't I?" He played up his own ego there for a second, grabbing the fourth shot of the evening. "To having beautiful eyes to look at beautiful women with!" He held up the glass for no one in particular before downing it almost instantly.
Nessa made a sound of disgust, muttering, "I think I'm going to be sick."
